Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
Curriculum Statement - Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) at Arundel Court
intent
At Arundel Court Primary Academy, the intention of our MFL curriculum is to develop an interest in and thirst for learning other languages. We aim to introduce the learning of the French language and the understanding of its culture in enjoyable and stimulating ways. We hope to embed the essential skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing and lay the foundations for future language learning.
Implementation
Our MFL curriculum has been designed to progressively develop skills in French. We are currently using the CGP Salut software to deliver our French lessons. This ensures children acquire a bank of vocabulary organised around topics; their development is progressive as they build on previous knowledge from units already studied.
impact
Our MFL curriculum will enable our pupils to make consistent, streamlined progress as they progress through the school. They will have a climate of interest and involvement in learning another language and will have a solid foundation of French to prepare them for future language learning.
